It All Started With an Idea...
BondBox began as a simple idea during my freshman year of college... I wanted a way to surprise someone I loved, even when distance made it impossible to be there in person.
The first version was… rough.
It only worked once, needed to stay plugged in, ran on a basic timer, and could barely hold a small gift. Honestly, it ran more on hope than engineering.
But it worked well enough to show me something important:
A physical surprise means more than a text message ever could.
So I kept building.
Over the years, I redesigned everything, making it battery-powered, more reliable, and more accurate. But something was still missing. The gift could only be timed in advance. There was no way to respond to life as it happened.
And long-distance relationships aren’t scheduled.
The Moment That Changed Everything
The person I built that first BondBox for is now my wife, so I’d say it worked.
When she was accepted into medical school, we celebrated immediately. But it hit me:
If we were still long-distance, I wouldn’t have been able to hand her flowers, a gift, or anything physical to celebrate that moment.
And if she had gotten bad news instead, I wouldn’t have been able to comfort her with something real either.
That realization led to the BondBox you see today.
